หลักการพื้นฐานทางวิศวกรรมที่ใช้ในอุตสาหกรรมยา เช่น การเลือกทำเลที่ตั้ง การวางผังโรงงาน การกำหนดระดับความสะอาดและสิ่งแวดล้อมภายในบริเวณผลิต การกำหนดสภาวะและจัดทำห้องพิเศษในการผลิตยา ระบบสาธารณูปโภค ระบบควบคุมอัตโนมัติ การตรวจสอบและบำรุงรักษาในสถานที่ผลิตยา หลักการและกระบวนการในการผลิตยาและเครื่องสำอางระดับอุตสาหกรรม การเตรียมวัตถุดิบ การย่อยขนาด การผสม การทำให้แห้ง การตอกอัดเม็ด การเคลือบ การบรรจุ และการทำให้ยาปราศจากเชื้อ กรณีศึกษาการเลือกใช้อุปกรณ์และเครื่องมือต่างๆ ที่เหมาะสมในกระบวนการผลิต ศึกษาหลักเกณฑ์และมาตรฐานอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตยาในประเทศสู่ระดับมาตรฐานสากล เช่น PIC/S (Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme).
Basic engineering principles in pharmaceutical industries such as plant site selection, building design, specification of cleanliness and environment in production area, specialized room requirement, utility supply and automation system in in pharmaceutical production; basic principles and processes employed in industrial manufacturing of pharmaceutical products and cosmetics; preparation of raw materials, milling, mixing, drying, compression, coating, packaging, and sterilization; case studies of an appropriate choice of equipment and instruments in formulation; good manufacturing practice and international convention on harmonization such as PIC/S (Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme).
