Walailak University is equipping lecturers with the following 2 pedagogical strategies for Trimester 3/2021 in response to COVID-19.

Lecturers may choose to do hybrid lessons which will be regularly scheduled and conducted on-site in classrooms fully equipped with online meeting equipment and applications (Zoom and MS Team). All hybrid lessons will be automatically recorded. All lesson recordings through Zoom can be downloaded from the link https://zoom.us at the recording menu. To download lesson recordings, lecturers require the same usernames and passwords used for logging in to Zoom and the download must be done within 14 days after the relevant lesson.

Lecturers can also tape record on-site teaching for asynchronous online learning at later times. Each building is equipped with different recording tools.

To record lessons conducted at all classrooms in the Architecture Building, lecturers are provided with webcams and AverMedia recording devices. Lecturers are advised to prepare a USB 3.0 compatible storage device for the recording. If needed, supporting technicians are available for assistance with the setup of the recording device. Please note that the video recording file size is 4 GB per hour.

To record lessons conducted at classrooms in Lecture Buildings 1, 3, 5 and 7, lecturers are provided with webcams and Nexis/OBS Studio applications. All lesson records at theses lecture buildings can be later downloaded from the server at the Center of Library Resources and Educational Media (CLM). Lecturers may consult the manual on the teaching desk in each classroom or CLM’s website for the server details.

All lessons conducted at 2 advance smart classrooms on the 3rd floor of Architecture Building will be automatically saved on the PC in the rooms; all lesson records are ready to be copied after each lesson.

Lecturers can also make a request for wide-angle cameras with the capacity of 360-degree rotation and remote controls at the audio and visual service department, located on the 1st floor of CLM. The department can be reached via the internal phone number at 73314.

Lecturers who use their iPad or smartphone to tape record lessons on cloud storage can file a request for the Swivl Robot equipment at the audio and visual service department, located on the 1st floor of CLM. The department can be reached via the internal phone number at 73314.

All lesson records can be shared as YouTube VDO clips or as posted links in WU eLearning, Google Classroom, Facebook Group, or other selected social media.
